Enerselves Project – 6th Interregional Event held in Malta

The Malta Intelligent Energy Management Agency (MIEMA) hosted the 6th Interregional Event for Enerselves project on the 16th and 17th May 2018. Maltese and Gozitan public entities and local stakeholders had the opportunity to participate in a workshop and a dissemination event, involving six European countries, with the purpose of exchanging information and knowledge on policy instruments and projects related to energy consumption and efficiency in public buildings. The project addresses the need for Nearly Zero Energy Buildings (NZEBs) mandated by the European Directive on the Energy Performance of Buildings.

Enerselves project was approved under the “low-carbon economy” thematic area of the Interreg Europe programme and aims to promote and support the integration of renewable energy sources (RES) in public buildings. The Maltese partner, MIEMA, is a partner in the Enerselves consortium along with institutions from Spain (Extremadura Energy Agency – lead partner), Sweden (Energy Agency for Southeast Sweden), Poland (Marshal Office of Swietokrzyskie Region), Italy (Lazio Region and Autonomous Region of Sardinia) and Romania (Agentia Pentru Dezvoltare Regionala Nord-Est).

Two site visits related to RES best practices in Malta and Gozo were organized during the event. The first visit was held at the Ministry for Gozo, which focused on a best practice in the field of photovoltaic installations on public buildings, while the second visit was held at the House of Parliament, chosen as a best practice related to the use of geothermal energy.

MIEMA shall be organizing a local stakeholders’ endorsement seminar and is participating at the EUSEW 2018 event in Brussels in June.
