Malta in EUSEW 2018

Enerselves – EUSEW 2018 press release

During the past week, representatives of the Malta Intelligent Energy Management Agency (MIEMA) attended the activities of the Sustainable Energy Week, organised in Brussels by the European Commission (EUSEW). They were accompanied by officers from the Ministry for Gozo and the local councils of Sannat and Qala.

MIEMA participated in an info-day on the Enerselves project, where it presented the EcoGozo policy of the Ministry for Gozo as an example of a best practice in the field of the integration of renewable energy sources (RES) in buildings. Ms Magdalena Andrea Strachinescu Olteanu, from the European Commission’s DG Energy, joined the event and discussed the main objectives and next actions of the Energy Directorate.

The Maltese representatives participated in several conferences and activities held throughout the Energy Week, with the aim of getting new ideas and increasing their knowledge on RES and new technologies to support initiatives in favour of green islands.

The Enerselves project intends to promote the integration of RES in public buildings. In Malta, 16 best practices have been identified so far, and an action plan is being developed to support the Ministry’s EcoGozo policy. In order to discuss this action plan, MIEMA is organising an endorsement seminar on the 18th of June, at the Ministry for Gozo. Representatives of local and regional public authorities are invited to participate.

Anyone interested in attending or in receiving further information about the project can get in touch with the project manager by sending an email to enerselves@miema.org.

The ENERSELVES project is part-financed by the EU’s European Regional Development Fund (ERDF), under the INTERREG Europe Programme – “low-carbon economy” topic.
